The ski brake is fixed to the rear sole holder of a ski safety binding. The brake rod is fixed to the upper part of the sole holder (7) so that when the sole holder is turned upwards the brake rod comes into the braking position. The free end (5) of the brake rod is bent downwards and projects out over the ski edge. The length of the brake is such that when it is in the rest position the brake end cannot contact the snow surface. The brake rods can be fixed permanently to the sole holder or fitted in various ways to the holder allowing springs to be added, or the brake can be made of spring wire.
