Flavouring substances or odorants are transferred by contacting them with, or impregnating a fine porous layer of metal oxide produced by electrolytic means, the support layer is then contacted with a receptive medium to release the substances or the layer is stored with the receptive medium. The support itself is also claimed. The support is used for flavouring or adonising such things as foodstuffs, tea coffee, tobacco, milk products etc. and to either mask unpleasant smells or flavours or render an insipid smell more attractive. Previous supports such as paper release the flavourants in a non-uniform fashion, or supports which are sintered are heavy and large. Present support provides an easy means of releasing flavours in a uniform fashion without separation of the flavour components. |
