Goniometer for measuring tension and crystal orientation - in which sample performs three movements

Goniometer allows simultaneous measurement of tension and crystal orientation distribution in crystalline materials. The specimen performs three movements: theta rotation about the line normal to the measuring plane (Nm); at the same time the counter tube performs rotation about the same axis by 2 theta, whereby incident (IO) and reflecting (IR) radiation form the measuring plane. Theta movement is performed at a given angular interval. The other two movements are Alt. Phi movement about an axis (A-A') which passes through the measuring plane and the surface of the specimen; and movement about the line normal to the specimen. Alt. Phi and movements are performed stepwise. Pref. an X-ray goniometer is used.
