The cover (1) for the note-book or loose-leaf file is made from a single sheet of flexible and tear-resistant plastic. It consists of front (1) and rear (2) portions joined by a spine (40) and folds along the lines (5). The front portion (2) has two trapezoidal tags (6) formed by slots (7) which terminate in circular holes (10). Each tag (6) is provided with an elliptical hole (8). The rear portion (3) has two elongated tongues (11) formed by parallel slots (12) which terminate in holes (13). The tongues (11) are bent upwards out of the surface of the cover and the pointed ends threaded through the holes punched in the sheets to be filed. The pointed ends of the tongues (11) are then pushed through the holes (8) in the tags (6) and then through the slots (7) so that the tongue lies flat on the surface (2).
