The push-pull output amplifier (A1/A2) which has a tristate output (Q) has two series-connected, separately controllable push-pull transistors (T20, T23). The permissible tolerance, e.g. from 6.8 volts to 36 volts, of the DC supply voltage (US1/US2) of this driver component is particularly broad, although output currents with narrow tolerances occur at the component output (Q), since each of the two push-pull transistors (T20, T23) is activated via a constant current source (S1/S2) which is connected to supply current only when the relevant push-pull transistor (T20 or T23) which is activated by it is switched to its conducting state. The driver component can be used in systems with virtually any, very different, DC supply voltages, in particular to control relays which have a precisely defined response threshold. <IMAGE>
