Above the furnace chamber is an easily interchangeable box roof, fitted with a motor driving a centrifugal blower located above a hood with a side inlet for the flame pipe of a gas or oil burner. The box roof is also fitted with an exhaust gas duct contg. an adjustable damper. The box roof thus forms an independent unit for both heating the furnace and the circulation of the hot gases. In one pref. design the bottom of the box roof is closed by a partition which surrounds the hood; the gases in the furnace chamber are drawn upwards via the hood to the blower, and are then driven down vertical tubes arranged along the sides of the furnace to open channels in the furnace hearth; in this way, continuous circulation of hot gas is provided. Several box roof sections may be connected in a row to form a long furnace. The unit construction and simple design reduces the capital and maintenance cosys of the furnace and broadens its field of application.
|
