A continuously working centrifuge, esp. for sugar, has a projecting, conical drum on the inner surface of which a supporting and a covering sieve are fastened by means of a syrup catching ring, on the flange at the widest diameter of the drum. A number of "U"-shaped brackets folded from flat strip, are pushed at uniform spacing, on to the drum flange and face inwards. On the under side of the bottom leg of these brackets, nuts are welded on, and correspondingly there are bores through the legs and the flange, so that the syrup catching ring, with the sieves clamped between, can be fastened by bolts from above, to the drum flange. The outer faces of the "U"-brackets and the inner face of the syrup catcher are machined to a close fit, and the bores through the flanges and the bracket legs are machined to accommodate set bolts. Arrangement provides a simple and durable means of fastening the sieves and syrup ring to the drum whilst allowing repeated dismantlings and re-assemblings without failures at the connecting points.
|
