1518777 Carbon black HOECHST AG 10 March 1977 [27 March 1976] 10172/77 Heading C1A [Also in Division C3] Carbon black is made by thermally converting liquid hydrocarbons at 1200-2000‹ in the presence of O under pressures of 1-80 atm, waterscrubbing the gas, blending the resulting dispersion at 5-120‹C and 1-20 atm. with a vaporizable liquid aliphatic or cycloaliphatic hydrocarbon, drying and annealing for 20-30 minutes at 200-2200‹C. The product has an AS value of 15-35, a specific electric resistance of 10<SP>-1</SP> to 10<SP>-3</SP> ohm. cm. at a moulding pressure of 100-180 atm., a bulk density of 100 to 180 g/litre, and a BET surface area of 100 to 1000 m<SP>2</SP>/g. |
