The quartz watch has a liquid crystal display and a battery for energising the latter, which is charged via at least one solar cell positioned adjacent the crystal display cell. The watch also includes an alarm circuit, for transmitting a tactile alarm to the arm of the wearer at a given alarm time. Pref. the alarm circuit has two electrodes (a, k) which are in contact with the wearer's arm and which are coupled to a pulse former (92, 93), delivering a voltage across the electrodes (a, k) which is higher than the normal operating voltages for the watch. Pref. the electrodes are connected to the secondary winding of a transformer (93), with its primary coupled to the battery (8) via a transistor (92).
