The brake control valve, or brake master cylinder, is linked to the brake pedal by an input lever (1) pivoted in the control housing, with one end coupled to the brake pedal or cable and the other end to an input piston (2) whose lower end (3) is shaped to press onto the brake control. The input piston is located in a floating cylinder which also presses on the brake valve, and with the bottom of the input piston spaced from the floating cylinder by a spring element (4). The input piston is located in the floating cylinder by a split ring spring (5) clipped into a groove (6) in the piston. This serves to centre the piston in the cylinder and provides some spring coupling between piston and cylinder. The two opposing springs on the piston serve to cancel out any wear in the linkage.
|
