The boat frame has a number of longitudinal members which form the sides and keel support and which are hinged along their lengths to fold the frame into a small space. Special bulkheads brace the frame, with the bulkheads being divided into two halves about a central, vertical plane and also hinged on the side struts. The angles of the hinges are chosen so that the whole frame can be folded flat. The ends of the frame converge into bow/stern sections which also fold flat. For added simplicity the frame can be divided into two half hulls by special couplings on the longidutinal frame members. The folded boat frame can be stored in a normal car boot. |
