Liquid is carried off by an overflow 8 and pipe 9 while solids settle in the container and are metered by a device 11 to a chamber 13 to which liquid is also supplied as by a pipe 14 connected to the upper part of the container 1. The slurry so formed is discharged by a pump 19 through a pipe 15 in which is a density-measuring device 17, which is connected to a controller 18 which regulates the metering device 11 and the liquid control valve 14a. As shown the metering device 11 is a bucket wheel 12 but it may be a screw or belt device. Sensors in the container I arrest the apparatus if the level of solids is above or below predetermined limits. |
