A catalytic plant for converting CO-contg. gases with steam to increase their H2 content is equipped with a preceding humidifier and a following desiccator. Columns used either for humidifying or for drying are equipped with an extra plate ahead of the discharge for another scrubbing operation in which water with a Si content of 30 mg SiO2/l is used. Prevents any enrichment of the Si or Al oxide content of the carry-over by the gas stream which produces SiO2 or Al2O3 deposite on the catalyst or in the gas condensate. The additional scrubbing stage is simple and can be added to existing humidifiers or desiccators. |
