1487428 Cable brakes BARROW HEPBURN EQUIPMENT Ltd 30 Dec 1975 [12 Dec 1974] 53852/74 Heading F2X [Also in Division E2] A lockable running coupling, for a workman's safety harness, comprises a cylindrical body 1 through which a line, or rail, can pass, a bar 16 pivotally mounted thereon via a parallelogram linkage 14, 19, and line-gripping means, e.g. balls 8, within the body 1, the line-gripping means being actuated by movement downwards of bar 16 relative to body 1, and the attachment point 22 for a safety belt, e.g. being positioned on bar 16 so that when the bar is in its upper, line-free position, point 22 is above the top of the body 1. The bar 16 is spring-loaded into the locked position shown in Fig. 3 by spring 23. The line-gripping means is actuated via a cam 12 fixed to the lower link 14, the balls being forced inwards by the frusto-conical peripheral wall of a ring 6. The wedging means, e.g. the ring 6, could be movable relative to the body 1, and to the line-gripping means, as an alternative. |
