1486823 Extruding parisons MOOG Inc 12 Aug 1974 [1 Nov 1973] 35361/74 Heading B5A [Also in Divisions G3 and G4] The invention relates to a control system (see Division G3) and to signal-generating circuitry (see Division G4) for use in such control system. The apparatus controlled is an extrusion machine for producing a bottle-form parison 23 (Fig. 1, not shown). The invention is applicable to the independently-controlled simultaneous production of two or more parisons 23b, 23c, Fig. 13, and to the production of parisons of assymetric form. The latter requires not only appropriate control of the vertical movements of a pintle 21d but also control of horizontal movements of a did 240. The die may be an apertured rigid block bodily displaceable in two perpendicular directions (Fig. 15, not shown) or a fixedly located but readily deformable ring (Fig. 16, not shown). An accumulation chamber may be interposed between the extruder barrel and the die. Extrusion may be into a neck ring mould (Fig. 6, not shown) which is moved away from the die.
