<p>1487093 Bookbinding U ROSATI and B MELIDEO 12 Sept 1974 [14 Sept 1973 18 April 1974] 39870/74 Heading B6A Booklets, pads and the like are made from leaves cut from a paper web 1 having coated areas on at least one edge of one face thereof, the coating either being a dried adhesive which regains its adhesive properties on contact with a solvent or catalyst, or being one component of a two component adhesive which becomes adhesive when the second component is applied. The leaves are cut and assembled so that at least one coated edge of each sheet is aligned. Individual booklets or pads in the assembly are defined by leaves having uncoated outer faces. The solvent, catalyst or second component is then applied to form individual bound booklets or pads in the assembly. Intermediate areas of the web, e.g. a strip 3, may be coated, the web being slit longitudinally along the strip to provide coated edges. Copying material or printing may be applied to the web outside the coated areas.</p> |
