1475466 Device for protecting animals from ectoparasites P R G DICK and M ROMBI 7 May 1975 [7 May 1974 16 April 1975] 19221/ 75 Heading A5E An insecticidal device capable of being fastened to the neck of an animal, comprises a composition containing diazinon or diazoxon [diethyl 0-(2-isopropyl-4-methyl-6-pyrimidinyl) phosphate] or mixtures thereof as the active princible, a solid vinyl or vinylidene polymer or copolymer (e.g. a vinyl chloride polymer) and a plasticiser therefor, and means for attaching the composition to the animal. Preferred plasticizers are dibutyl phthalate and dioctyl adipate. Optional ingredients are colouring agent, pigments, stabilizers and deodorants. The compositions may be contained in a plastic cover having orifices therein and may have an outer case impervious to the active principles, or may be in the form of a band or belt or a hollow strip enclosing a belt. Methods of producing the devices are claimed.
