Appts. for fastening together tubular or approximately tubular parts, which at the time of the operation have different temps., by shrinking, has >=1 clamp divided along a plane corresponding to that through the centre line of the tubular parts. The loading of the clamp is effected by springs the clamp being opened and closed automatically by a first servo motor. Behind the clamping surface a similarly split HF heating coil is arranged together with a spiral for a cooling medium. There is a slide for the carriage holding the other tubular part which is moved by a second servo motor so as to thread the second into the first heated part. A programmed circuit operates the servo motors automatically, and the threading motion of the second servo motor is initiated by a monitor comprising an infrared meter at the shrinking point. Appts. is fully automatic and increases the speed of prodn. considerably. A number of shrinking operations can be carried out simultaneously or almost simultaneously on the same workpiece.
