A folding side car is connected to the frame of a cycle or motorcycle by a telescopic strut (8, 9) which can be locked at a selected length. At low speeds (up to 20 Km/h), the strut (8, 9) is locked for stability of the vehicle, but at higher speeds, the strut (8, 9) can telescope to permit the cycle or motorcycle to lean over while negotiating bends. The tube (9) is pref. locked to the tube (8) by rotation of a screw (13) screwed into a block (10) on the tube (9). The screw (13) is rotated by swinging a lever (15) by means of a cable (17) which is operated by a hand control by the rider. The screw (13) may be replaced by a nut, eccentric or wedge. Alternatively, the telescopic strut (8, 9) maybe locked by an electric motor in response to an electronic revolution counter situated at one of the wheels.
|
