<p>The sealing ring is intended for use with joints in ceramic or concrete pipes and is suitable for fluid pressures of up to two bars. The sealing ring has a U-shaped cross-section with a rib (3) extending radially inwards. The rib (3) has a thin lip (4) on its upper surface and a thicker lip (11) on its lower surface. The U-shaped part of the ring fits over the edge of the bore of the female pipe (1). The deformation of the arms (8, 10) creates radial forces (f1, f2) which ensure a good seal against the pipe walls. The male pipe (5) deforms the rib (3) as it is inserted into the end of the pipe (1). The thin lip (4) is pressed against the wall of the pipe (5) and the thick lip (11) presses the arm (2) against the bore of the pipe (1).</p> |
