Analyser for detection of elements in sample - has lamp which emits analysed spectrum and is supplied with modulated pulsating current maintaining stable glow discharge

The analyser has an atomic spectral lamp (5) with two electrodes (3, 4) of which at least one contains an element, or is made of it. It can emit the spectrum of the element to be detected. It has further a detector for the element radiation and a supply source for the electrodes (3, 4) of the lamp (5). A current modulator (7) delivers to the lamp (5) a pulsating current which maintains a stable glow discharge with low self-absorption. A D.C. voltage source (8) supplies current modulator (7), and a function generator (9) delivers a voltage for the pulsating current control.
