<p>A drive for a vehicle windscreen wiper (2) includes a toothed segment (9) which is swung to and for, swinging about a bottom pivot pin (10). This drives a toothed pinion (3) attached to a spindle (1) carrying the wiper arm (2). The segment is driven by a cranked arm (7) mounted on the output spindle (6) of the drive motor (12) at the rear. The crank arm (7) has a leg (8) projecting from it, which travels in a slot (9) in the segment, thus producing the reciprocation as the arm (7) rotates. By varying the distance between the centre of the leg (8) and the centre of the motor spindle (6), the angle of swing of the wiper can be varied. Different linkages for achieving this are shown, also with a drive for two wiper arms.</p> |
