Lid for cylindrical cardboard container - has circular groove fitting over ring formed by rolling top edge of cylinder

The cardboard container has cylindrical sides (1) and a base (2) which is fitted inside a groove (3) at the base of the cylinder by means of a flange (4) on the base. The top of the cylinder is rolled inwards to form a toroid (5) at the edge of the cylinder. The lid (6) has a flat surface in the centre and a semi-circular groove (7) on the outside rim of the lid. The groove (7) fits the toroid of the cylinder. A reinforcement may be fitted to the lid which may also have a pouring hole.
