Lubrication and cooling during wire drawing - has wires guided through inner tank containing lubricant for each die stage

A tank contains liq. which acts as a combined lubricant and coolant and is mounted between the draw cone and the return cone. The wire being drawn passes around the draw cone and is led back underneath the tank and around the return cone. The wire then passes through a slit in the end wall of the tank and through one of the dies which are supported in the holders. This process is repeated until the wire has been drawn to the required diameter. The tank is supplied with lubricant and coolant through pipes and overflows through another pipe. Further pipes spray the liquid over the wires wound on the cones.
