<p>The shield or powered mine support swivel is for a rise heading or transfer operation between faces. A baseplate is at right angles to the strike and parallel to the conveyor and is advanced by chain and ram and clamped between roof and floor by props. A swivel plate at the baseplate end furthest from the ram can swing through 90 deg. A jack can travel along a rack along the baseplate and swivel plate and has an extensible arm. The jack can be arrested in the end position on the swivel plate and swivels together with this, using hydraulic cylinders on the plate.</p> |
