<p>The low loader trailer has a lowered section (17) on which the large drum is supported. The flanges of the drum if it is a large cable drum, hang over the sides of the central support for the trailer and rest on special stops (19) at the ends of cross struts of the chassis. The axle of the drum is gripped on each side by bearings (15) supported on vertical rams (10). The rams raise and lower the drum to suit the ground clearance requirements, or to lower the drum to pass under obstructions. No additional hoists are required and the side rams are compact enough to enable the drum to occupy most of the width of the trailer.</p> |
