The return drum assembly is for the intermediate drive of a conveyor belt, particularly in a mine, the drive comprising an auxiliary belt between the top and bottom runs of the main one, typically halfway along the latter. The supporting frame for the drum of the auxiliary belt slides on a sub-frame in the conveyor travel direction, being coupled to a tensioner or thruster mechanism. At both ends of the supporting frame are girders telescopically extensible in the travel direction, with portions at the ends for attachment to the ends of the girders of the main conveyor belt supporting frame.
