The marine reverse gear, has a drive shaft, a driven shaft and an intermediary shaft. One shaft is inclined towards the other two, which are parallel to each other. Five gearwheels are provided, one of which is in permanent engagement on the driven shaft with gearwheels on the other two shafts engageable at will. The drive (and intermediary) shaft (20) is inclined and the intermediary (and drive) shaft (30) lies parallel to the driven shaft (10). A drive pin (23) can be placed in gear with one of the gearwheels (22, 32) and with one of the couplings (24, 34) both on the drive (and intermediary) shaft (20) and on the intermediary (and drive) shaft (30) by usage of the corresponding gear housing component (6 or 7).
