The metal and air cell has a hydrophobic film, typically of plastics, on the gas side of the cell, and has also a middle, catalyst containing layer for oxygen dissolution, and a metal layer on the electrolyte side for hydrogen deposition, provided with a large area current collector in a plastic electrode frame. Metal layer of the hybrid electrode is held in guiding slots (12) in the electrode frame (10), so that the electrode plastic layer lies in a frame opening. The current collector is connected to the electrode frame at points at which there are no guiding slots.
