Maintaining the uniformity of blast furnace flue dust sludge - by keeping solids content at above 32 percent by weight and stirring constantly

The mixture of blast furnace and steel works furnace dust is stored in form of sludge in basins under constant stirring. The stirring operation can be carried out by blowing in gas or jet spraying the sludge. By adding controlled quantities of dry dust or filter cake the concentration of the mixture can be maintained at >32% by wt. Pref. the gas used to carry out the stirring in either air or nitrogen, and >=2 basins are used. The mixed sludge may contain dust from a converter with a gas regenerating plant. The sludge is used to produce pellets of optimum quality for subsequent resmelting.
