The bar feed stock is maintained concentric in a lathe hollow spindle. Spring point supports are equispaced around a bush to adjust to the bar dia. with radial concentricity. Resilient bush linings, or levers, may replace directly sprung point supports. The bar stock (4) feeds through the lathe spindle (2) and chuck (3). A clearance fitting bush (11) is held by screws (16) concentric in the spindle bore (6). Three intermediately spaced screws (15) each hold a curved leaf spring (12). The spring ends bend to grip the bar centrally.
