<p>1486133 Cutting apparatus G A JONES 22 Jan 1975 2694/75 Heading B4B A cutter for cutting sheet material 46 e.g. a cardboard mount, comprises a guide rail 12 along which a housing 10 is slidable, a blade 16 fixed to the housing and having a portion which makes sliding contact with a guide surface 18 as the housing is slid along the guide rail, a corner 42 of the blade extending below the blade guide to engage in and cut the sheet material located below the guide. The housing is of V- cross-section for engaging with a similar section guide rail 12, the surface 18 of the rail constituting the guide for the blade 16; alternatively, the guide may be a separate member joined to the guide rail. The blade is provided with a reinforced back edge adapted to be clamped in a groove 24 by a plate 26; the groove is formed on a chamfered surface 20. The amount that the corner 42 of the cutting edge projects below the level of the guide 18 may be adjusted by a sliding abutment 32, 34 via a screw-and-nut device 36, 40 associated with a slot 38. The guide rail may be located on a table 44 by means of lugs 54 extending through slots in the rail and screwed to the table. The cardboard may be held by clamp plates (48) Fig. 3 (not shown).</p> |
