1486370 Mobile elevating apparatus H OERTHEL 8 Sept 1975 [25 Sept 1974] 36857/75 Heading B8L A device for lifting and transporting patients who cannot walk, comprises a wheeled carriage 12, which may be power driven, a patient supporting couch 28 movable up and down a frame 18 which is tiltable about a horizontal axis 20 on the carriage, and means for longitudinally tilting the couch about an axle 24 on the frame 18. The hollow frame 18 is tiltable in a vertical plane by an hydraulic ram 34 pivotally mounted on a frame 14 vertically secured to the carriage base 15. The couch axle 24 extends through a longitudinal slot in the frame 18 for connection to a piston-rod 42 of an hydraulic ram 40 within the frame 18 moving the axle 24 and hence couch 28 therealong. A further hydraulic ram is used for tilting the couch about the axle 24. All movements of the device are controlled from a panel 32 on the frame 14, and locks are provided to secure the couch 28 in a level patient carrying position.
