<p>1416203 Coating composition HOOKER CHEMICALS & PLASTICS CORP 18 April 1973 [19 April 1972] 18763/73 Heading C3B A composition suitable for the protection of corrodible metallic surfaces comprises a binder, e.g. an epoxy resin or epoxy resin ester, and a filler. The filler comprises more than 50% of the filler of a comminuted refractory ferro alloy (I) and at least one non-metallic corrosion inhibitor (II) and optionally, up to 10% by wt, based on the filler of conductive metal particles (III), capable when applied to a corrodible metal surface of acting as a sacrificial anode. The resultant coatings can be welded without substantial loss of the corrosion resistant character. The binder may comprise 3-80% by wt. of the composition and the filler 20-97% by weight. I, e.g. ferrophosphorus, may have a particle size 1-10 Á and may comprise 60- 99% by wt. of the filler. II, e.g. zinc chromate or zinc yellow (4ZnO.4CrO 3 .K 2 O.3H 2 O), may have a particle size 2-10 Á. III may be zinc particles.</p> |
