1449891 Enzymes attached to cellulose derivatives SOC NATIONALE DES PETROLES D'AQUITAINE 9 Nov 1973 [15 Nov 1972 12 Oct 1973] 52190/73 Headings C3H and C3A A process for producing a complex by fixation of an enzyme on a cellulose derivative substrate, in which the substrate is a substitution derivative of cellulose wherein the substituent or substituents consist of chlorine and/or a radical composed of sulphur and oxygen atoms and/or of an acyl chloride radical introduced by esterifying cellulose with the di-acid chloride of a dicarboxylic acid, comprises maintaining a dispersion of the derivative in an aqueous solution of the enzyme in the presence of a buffering agent at a pH not less than 5 or greater than 10 at 0‹ to 45‹ C. until the fixation has occurred. The cellulose derivative may be obtained by treating cellulose with a chlorinating agent, e.g. a phosphorus chloride, with a sulphochlorinating agent, e.g. thionyl chloride or sulphonyl chloride, or with the di-acid chloride of a dicarboxylic acid. The starting cellulose may be lignified to a lignin content of 5-25% by weight and the enzyme is preferably a hydrolase, e.g. trypsin, chymotrypsin, rennet, or #-galactosidase. |
