1420823 Suction dredger G FALDI 7 March 1973 [20 March 1972] 11166/73 Heading E1F Dredging apparatus comprises a pump-shovel assembly (22) which comprises three cylinders 26 arranged to pump away dredged material (through duct 30), which fills them in sequence, by means of compressed air supplied to the cylinders (through pipes 32), each cylinder being connected to a dredging shovel 28 formed from two parallel plates 33, 34 connected by lateral plates 35 to define a collecting cavity (36), the front of the lower plate 34 having inclined cutting means 43 arranged to sink into a bed being dredged. The plates are joined at the front of the cavity by bars 38 with cutting edges 39, which are inclined downwardly towards the inside of the shovel, and are joined by horizontal bars 41 with cutting edges 42. At the junction of the bars 38 with the lower plate 34 are upwardly and outwardly facing teeth 40; upwardly facing teeth 44 are also provided on the knives 43. The upper part of the opening of the shovel may be obscured by plates (48), Figs. 6, 7 (not shown). In a modification, Figs. 8, 9 (not shown), the bars 38, 41 are omitted, and the knives 43 are replaced by a forward and downward extension (150) of the lower plate. |
