For the continuous filtration of suspensions or emulsions in a filter bed formed from a loose packing of solid particles, the solid particles must be continuously cleaned. The solid particles (1) are cleaned with a part of the filtrate in counter-current in the region between the top edge of the filter bed and the overflow (9) of the clean part of the filtrate, the part of the filtrate used for cleaning being conducted away separately (6) from the clean filtrate. For this purpose, the fouled solid particles (1) are transported, by a pipe (10) penetrating through the filter bed, from the bottom end of the filter bed to the top from where they fall back down in counter-current through the filtrate rising in a tube (13). Improved washing of the filter material results with simultaneous higher throughput based on the space required. The apparatus needed is smaller than the apparatuses conventional hitherto and does not contain an additional cleaning device for the filter material arranged outside the filtration tank. <IMAGE> |
