Electrical terminal especially intended for use in distribution cable applications. Connection is made without distortion of conductor trapping elements and only requires the use of a screwdriver. The connector having small plan cross-section allows its use in high density arrays of connectors. The incoming conductor is trapped between a single jaw (4) driven by a screw (3) against the tapered base (10) of the shell of the connector assembly. Pressure on the jaw from the screw is achieved by a trapped nut (6) being forced back against a plate (21') set within the open section of the 'U' and held there by a sprung washer.
