The hand tool is used for securing wire ties binding reinforcing bars together. The tool grips the two loose wire ends and automatically rotates as traction is applied to twist the ends together. Traction and twisting is maintained until the tie wires rupture. The tool has fixed (12) and pivoting jaws (11) which are mounted on a hollow axle rod (1). The axle (1) is mounted in a handle housing (2-5) so as to rotate when traction is applied through the jaws (11, 12) to the tie wires. The pivoting jaw (11) may be closure sprung and may be open opened manually by using hand lever (13).
