An overhead lighting system with sets of fluorescent tubes (5, 6, 7) concealed behind diffusers, uses standard longitudinal members (1) forming the two sides of the housing which supports the diffusers. These are carried by cross members (9, 10) which can be channels cut to any required length, so that the housing can be made to suit the number of side by side tubes to be enclosed. Each longitudinal member has an inturned flange along the bottom to support the diffusers and the sides (4) slope outwards. Each side incorporates L-shaped ribs facing one another, so that plates can be slid between them at joints to interconnect lengths. The plates are tensioned by grub screws. The top edge is hook shaped (3) to engage the supporting cross members. |
