Injection nozzle temp. control uses a heating cartridge in the nozzle core. The core is controlled by reference to a temp. sensor located in the tip of the core, i.e. between the cartridge heater and the nozzle gate. Pref. the sensor may be isolated from the cartridge by a screen of insulating material. The signal lead to the sensor may pass either co-axially through a tubular cartridge or through a channel in an insulating sleeve surrounding the cartridge. The sensor temps. are closer to that of the melt leaving the nozzle than those from installations where the sensor is upstream from the cartridge or in an external (nozzle barrel) wall.
|
