Individual sections making up a continuous length can be easily laid exactly in position for level and for lateral alignment, with no need for preparation of a precisely levelled base. The prefabricated sections (1), arranged lengthways in an aligned row, are accurately anchored in position, with downwards-opne hollow spaces (2) set onto pref. regularly spaced uprights (5) or posts anchored in firm ground (3). The heads (6) of these, at an approx. constant or steadily inclined level, engage the hollows with room left for play. There may be one special hollow for each upright. The abutting ends of the sections may be tongued and grooved, plugged or otherwise joined together, or concrete may be inserted to set hard in hollow spaces enclosed by the ends.
