<p>The plug and socket pipe coupling has in the socket (1) a seal member (6) situated centrally in the bore of the socket and being axially spring-loaded to close the inlet to the socket. When the plug is pushed into the socket, the tip of the plug pushes the seal member back into the open position. Flow can then take place through the annular passage between the seal member and the interior of the socket bore. The end of the seal member abutted by the plug has transverse recesses (12) so that the fluid can flow between the interior of the plug and the passage in the socket.</p> |
