The vehicle safety belt has an automatic release which operates after a shock has imposed a pull on the belt. The body (7-9, 13) of the lock is spring loaded (6) and moves along its strap fixing (5). A spring catch (10) engages the belt buckle (B) when pushed into the lock body (A). A pull compresses the spring in the lock body and the upper part (4) of an oscillating lever is moved sideways. This causes the lower end (3) of the lever to displace the catch (10) and take its place (15). When the pull is removed, the catch is retained, the lever drops and the lock is released.
|
