1499381 Switch contacts; printed circuits PLESSEY CO Ltd 21 July 1976 [29 July 1975] 31597/75 Headings H1N and H1R A rotary electric switch includes a printed circuit board comprising an insulating substrate 1 having a preformed unitary conductor pattern 2 bonded to it defining interconnected concentric contact areas and conducting strips 9, the contact areas comprising an annular area 3 and discrete pads 6 or two rings of pads (11, 12, Fig. 3, not shown) and the strips 9 having free ends projecting beyond the edge of the substrate as terminals for insertion into a socket connector (not shown), interconnections 8 between the contact areas or (14) between the pads being removed, e.g. by drilling, subsequent to bonding according to switching requirements. The conductor pattern 2 is etched or stamped from a thin sheet of copper or nickel silver and bonded by heat and pressure and, optionally, by adhesive, the contact and terminal areas being coated with a noble metal, e.g. silver. The terminals may be bent into different planes (Fig. 4, not shown) for insertion into a socket having two rows of socket terminals. The switch also comprises contact members 23 carried by a moulded rotor body 21 for engagement with the contact areas.
|
