1472709 Roll coating WIGGINS TEAPE Ltd 8 March 1976 [10 March 1975] 9789/75 Heading D1L Gravure coating roll 2 of the coating apparatus disclosed in Specification 1404616 and shown in Fig. 1 is provided with a gravure surface formed by bombarding a substrate roll with a thermally stable inorganic material. The materials include (a) tungsten carbide, optionally mixed with 9-10% Co, Ni and/or chromium carbide, (b) chromium carbide, optionally with 15-25% nickel chrome, (c) chromium oxide, optionally with 20% aluminium oxide or 40% Cr, and (d) aluminium oxide, optionally with titanium oxide. The modified apparatus may be used for applying solventless silicone compositions to release paper. |
