Decorating saucers or plates - using decorative design glued to surface and covered with glass disc

A saucer (1) or plate or similar utensil is provided with decoration by first applying a layer of double sided adhesive film (9) to the surface (3) of the saucer. A decorative inlay (6) which may be a photograph is then pressed onto the film (9). The inlay (6) is then covered with a second layer of adhesive film (14) which is finally covered by a thin disc of glass (7) or of transparent plastic such as acrylic resin. The adhesive films (9) and (14) are impermeable to water and are also non-soluble in water. This method of decoration can equally well be applied to the undersurface of the saucer or plate.
