<p>At least one of the coplanar spools has flanges with cut-ints into which the flanges of the other spool can penetrate; one of the cut-out flanges can rotate relative to the spool core. In the version illustrated, the cut-outs turn the flanges into (possibly cycloidal) gears with deep teeth. The spools each have one freely-rotating flange, and are oppositely placed, so that the freely-rotating flange of each meshes with the fixed flange of the other. Each spool has a ring groove on one side, which fits over a ridge on the cassette upside down. In a second version, one spool is normal, with fully circular flanges. The other has cut-outs to accept part of these flanges. The cut-out part is kept in the correct positon by stops on the cassette body.</p> |
