The plastic drum dips into an agitated trough containing the liquid to be filtered. The outer surface of the drum has a series of boxes running its length so as to form in effect an annular space with radial partitions. At the end of each box is a draw off duct which is connected to a vacuum distributor. In certain drum positions, as the drum immerses vacuum is pulled and cake formed on the screen. The filtrate is separated in the normal way and the cake removed by a knife. Normally the filter is used with a precoat. The simplified construction allows the use of GFRP. |
