<p>The ends of the snow chain are fitted with grip hoops (1) which are shaped to fit the tyre profile, with internal grip surfaces to hold the tyre. The outer arms of the hoops are provided with securing clamps for the side ties of the snow chain as well as clips for joining the chain. These are hooks on one end and eyes (6) on the other end of the chain. The chain is fitted by a gripping tensioner which grips shoulders (11) on the hoops and draws them together until the hooks slip into the eyes. The tensioner is removable and can be designed to be operated by the car jack. The chain is thus kept a simple and light as possible.</p> |
